10 GAMES TO PLAY AT THE FIRST, FREE TRAFALGAR SQUARE GAMES FESTIVAL

Play With A Pro sessions let players take on visiting esports champions at Rocket League. Host of AR experiences available to try on iPhone and iPad Special sideshow Actual. Reality Arcade spoofs retro classics.

Trafalgar Square will be turned into a dedicated games festival on Saturday 7 April with 10 games and interactive entertainment experiences that are free to play.

These include esports challenges and augmented reality games, plus live excitement on the day.

The Trafalgar Square Games Festival element of the London Games Festival is supported by Events DC and Starling Bank, with in-kind support from Omen by HP and Community Fibre.

PLAY WITH A PRO: ROCKET LEAGUE

Visitors have a chance to play competition matches of Rocket League (football with rocket-powered cars, developed by Psyonix). The best players will get a chance to join teams headed by visiting esports pro players Garrett and Fireburner from the champion NRG team, visiting London from the USA. Challenges run every half hour on the day.

EXPERIENCE AUGMENTED REALITY

Meanwhile the AR Zone features four UK-made innovative games designed for Augmented Reality (AR). ARise (made by Climax Studios), Orbu (made by Dream Reality Interactive), Pigeon Panic! (made by Combo Studio), and Smash Tanks! (made by Dumpling Design) will all be showcased and free to try on iPhone and iPad.

GET A DOSE OF ACTUAL REALITY

London Games Festival is also bringing the touring Actual Reality Arcade to Trafalgar Square. This touring set of live games inspired by retro classics puts players in the midst of the old school action, with interactive spoofs of iconic arcade games.

The Trafalgar Square Games Festival is free to all and open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, 7 April.

The Trafalgar Square event is part of London Games Festival, which runs from 5 April to 15 April. The festival is expected to attract over 50,000 people across a mix of 40 public events for consumers and industry professionals in a programme the covers mobile, PC and indie games, VR and AR, esports, and fun and fascinating new forms of interactive entertainment.

London Games Festival is delivered by Games London, a partnership between the capital’s screen industries agency Film London and games trade body Ukie. Games London is funded by the Mayor of London’s London Enterprise Action Panel, with its funding recently renewed for a further three years.
