10 Upcoming Games We Cannot Wait For

With the upcoming next generation of consoles coming out at the end of the year, it’s a good time to be a gamer. Not only that, but there are many great releases on the horizon that promise to deliver incredible player experiences. Here are 10 upcoming games that we cannot wait to get our hands-on.

Madden 21 – August 28th, 2020

Madden 21 is the latest edition of the classic football franchise. Released just in time for the NFL preseason, Madden 21 will be loaded with features that promise to make it the best football game thus far. Packed with detailed ball-carry mechanics, realistic open-field tackling, and more emphasis on the defensive line and pass rush moves, this could be the most fleshed-out Madden ever. With the different modes available, you can focus your attention on one particular player or prospect and really learn their strengths. This is an advantage when you’re looking at Oddschecker’s NFL Futures: MVP Picks and trying to predict who will be the standout players of the season. There is no better way to get excited for the NFL 2020 season than picking up the latest Madden release.

Cyberpunk 2077 – November 19th, 2020

No gaming list would be complete without a nod to the upcoming futuristic epic, Cyberpunk 2077. Few games in history have had us on the edge of our seats in anticipation like this title. By now, everyone knows the story of the excruciating development process behind the latest CD Projekt Red game. Estimates on the exact number of programmers working on this troubled project have ranged from 400-700 across the world. Several release date pushbacks have already happened and we are praying that this fall we will finally get to plug into the Matrix and experience this magnum opus of a game. From neon skylines to electronic body enhancements and futuristic weapons, all of the cyberpunk genre cliches are there and fans are dying to see how this game has come together.

Pokemon Snap 2 – TBD

Every Pokemon obsessed child of the 90s remembers the original Pokemon Snap for the N64. Fans have been outright pleading with Nintendo for decades for a sequel to this quirky and colorful cult classic. Hot on the heels of the recent main series release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, the announcement for Pokemon Snap was completely out of the blue, much to the shock of the community. The trailer showcases lush, beautiful environments and all of our favorite Pokemon in unique picturesque moments. With no release date yet, the wait will be unbearable after all these years spent wondering “what if?”

Ghost of Tsushima – July 17th, 2020

Fans of the Assassin’s Creed series have been clamoring for a title set in Japan’s feudal age for a long time now, and it seems like they may finally get that formula in Ghost of Tsushima. The latest release from Sucker Punch, Tsushima has been in development for several years now. Playing as a samurai during the Mongol invasion of Japan, your character has to utilize stealth, agility, and master swordsmanship to fight off these invaders. With a gorgeous atmosphere filled with cherry blossoms and mountain backdrops and gameplay focused on exploration and assassin style sneak-attacks, this game has become one of the most anticipated releases this year.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild 2 – TBD

Every time a main series Zelda game comes out, it becomes one of the biggest and most cherished games in history. The 2017 release of the original Breath of the Wild was no exception. Fans of the Zelda series do not expect direct sequels, so needless to say the surprise sequel announcement at E3 last year has us beyond excited. The original game saw the series protagonist Link traversing a massive mountainous location searching for rare weapons and defeating unique monsters. We hope this concept is expanded on with more features, side quests, and hopefully more depth to the combat system and weaponry. The expected release date hasn’t been announced yet, so we will have to wait patiently for this upcoming epic.

Diablo 4 – TBD

By now it seems like Diablo games only come around once in a blue moon, and seeing as it was more than 8 years since the last release, it’s about time for more Diablo action. The newest addition to the series promises to have the most in-depth gameplay yet. Fans will be pleased to see more of what we’ve come to love from the series, like exploring dungeons and smashing a plethora of new monsters. The art direction has taken a noticeable departure from the cartoony style of Diablo 3. Instead, we’re venturing through a bleak and dark world that looks terrifying and exceptionally detailed. With no date yet confirmed, don’t expect a 2020 release.

Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – Late 2020

Many aspects of this title are as shrouded in mystery as the underground vampire world it depicts. Since this sequel to the original cult classic was announced, few details about this new project have been released, although we did get an intriguing gameplay demo. It seems like fans are in for more of the aspects that made the first release so memorable. The branching storylines, real-impact dialogue choices, and lots of sneaking in the darkness and world exploration will be all there to experience. The original March release date was pushed back, and developers are now targeting the 2020 holiday season.

Halo Infinite – Late 2020

The Halo series needs no introduction as all gamers are familiar with the groundbreaking gameplay it brings. While some of the most recent additions to the Halo franchise have failed to live up to the standard, Halo Infinite looks to amend that. With the return of series protagonist Master Chief and an incredible new game engine, Halo Infinite looks like it is the sequel fans have been waiting for.

Overwatch 2 – TBD

Esports fans and Twitch streamers rejoice, Overwatch is finally getting a sequel. In some respects, it almost sounds like an expansion, with new gameplay that focuses on PvE instead of the player vs player matches that the original is known for. Now there will be co-op story missions with new and old heroes fighting together to defeat Null Sector, the robotic army that players were tasked with defeating in the Uprising event. It sounds like Blizzard has gone all-in on this new mission-driven gameplay, and we are excited about the possibilities.

Destroy All Humans! – July 28th, 2020

The original Destroy All Humans from 2005 is the guilty pleasure of many PS2 era gamers. With remakes of older games being the trend right now, we expected to see some cult classics come back, but this one took us by surprise. Developers promise that this isn’t simply a reskin of the original game, but actually a complete overhaul that expands on the original’s sandbox environment. The trailer confirms that all of the outrageous gameplay is back like the body-swapping, car throwing, laser-blasting, and everything else that made the original great. With the July 28th release date just around the corner, you won’t have to wait long for this extraterrestrial epic.
