Abubakar Salim’s Silver Rain Games Reveals Core Team

Silver Rain Games studio founded by BAFTA-nominated actor and producer Abubakar Salim announces a series of high-profile hires to work on an unannounced IP.

Silver Rain Games launched its studio in March 2020 amidst the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown under the tagline “Creating Narratives to Empower Players”. Six months later and they have released the names of their team who are working on an unannounced IP.

Soon to star as Father in Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves television series for HBO Max this year, Abubakar Salim will be creating and directing a new game IP with Silver Rain‘s Head of Studio, Melissa Phillips.

Salim noted, “Our team is strong and it continues to grow stronger with every new addition. It has been inspiring to see our project grow organically over the last 6 months into something we feel like we can share with investors and publishers. I truly believe in what we are making and hope to announce the title later this year.”

The studio has released the names for several members of their team via the Silver Rain Games website working on their unannounced IP so far. The studio makeup reflects 63% unrepresented ethnic groups and 47% Female.

Notable names include Composer, Nainita Desai, who has been involved in BAFTA, Oscar and Emmy winning productions. Narrative Designer, Corey Brotherson, who was announced alongside Abubakar Salim as part of the 2020 Ensemble exhibition and award-winning animator, Lou Rigoudy – who has worked as a key artist on VFX productions such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Dolittle (2020) and The Call of the Wild (2020).

Head of Studio, Melissa Phillips states, “It’s been a strange time to start a new studio – I am so grateful to be building a team where we can explore and experience these challenges together. It further solidifies that there needs to be a change in the industry and a progressive move forwards. Not only looking at inclusivity, but also with methods of work.”

On her experience working for Silver Rain Games, Programmer Taylor Adams-Harriott said “Getting to work with such a great group of people has been the highlight of my lockdown. Everyone is so passionate and supportive; it’s really helped me stay motivated and excited about what we’re doing.”

Concept Artist, Tumo Mere, says “Working at Silver Rain has been a super fun experience, and while I haven’t been here long I’ve been surrounded by incredibly talented and welcoming people who’ve made me feel instantly a part of the team. Seeing the excitement and passion that everyone is working with and watching our works come to life has been truly amazing and it honestly feels like watching the birth of true magic.”
