Apex Legends Patch 1.1.1 News

The latest Apex Legends update is out now on all platforms. Character changes, weapon balance, and a brand new bonus experience points event for the battle pass that allows players to power through the levels at a faster pace. The update has brought many welcomed changes and additions to the already excellent experience of Apex Legends. The full patch notes are available on the Apex Legends’ subreddit. Below are some of the biggest changes introduced with update 1.1.1.

First off are the changes to Caustic and Gibraltar who are the largest of the Legends available in-game. At the start of Season One, the team at Respawn Entertainment addressed their concerns with these two Legends by adjusting each of their hitboxes, making them slightly harder to hit. This adjustment clearly did not do enough to change these Legends as now, with update 1.1.1, Caustic and Gibraltar now have an additional passive called “Fortification” which adds damage reduction of 10% to these Legends. This change truly makes them the Tank Class characters they were designed to be. Caustic has also had slight changes to his abilities. His gas trap has been increased to four damage per tick, up from one. They have also increased the distance in which Caustic can throw his Ultimate Ability by five meters, from 28m to 30m. Gibraltar has also had his “aim down sight” gun shield increased from 50 to 75 health, adding more to his tank playstyle. With these changes now at-work in-game, Respawn Entertainment has stated that they plan to monitor in-game data around these Legends and will adjust them further if needed.

Up next are the batch of weapon changes that have been applied through the latest patch.

Weapons that have been updated include: Wingman, Longbow DMR, G7 Scout, Havoc Rifle, Spitfire, and TripleTake. The biggest takeaways from these weapon updates have to be the changes to the sniper class weapons (Longbow, G7 Scout, and TripleTake) as well as the Wingman and Spitfire. The Longbow, G7 Scout, and TripleTake have had their weapon sway-and-sway speed reduced by 33% and 25% respectively. These weapons have also had “Leg Shot” damage reduction lowered from 25% to 10% making it so less accurate shots will not be penalized as much. The changes to the Wingman only affect the magazine size across all tiers of upgradable magazines, base magazine is now four shots instead of six, Common is now six shots instead of eight, Rare is now eight shots instead of nine, and the Epic magazine is now 10 shots instead of 12. Lastly, the Havoc Rifle has also seen an increase in magazine size (now at 32 up from 25). The charge beam mode of the Havoc Rifle has also been adjusted, now taking four ammunition per shot instead of five as well as an increase to close and far range damage. Close range shots will now hit 60 instead of 55 and shots at range will deal 50 instead of 45. They have also adjusted the distance a shot needs to travel for the damage to start to drop off. The last of the weapon changes are the slight adjustments to GOLD TIER weapons that you can find in-game. Gold Havoc now has turbocharger and 1x-2x holographic sight. Gold Wingman now has the Digital Threat sight, and the gold R-301 has a 1x-2x holographic sight. This batch of weapon changes aims to balance the games current META so that (in the hands of someone who knows how to use them) every weapon in-game can be utilized no matter who or what you’re facing off against.

Update 1.1.1 has done a great job improving the in-game experience of Apex Legends as well as adding a way to level up your battle pass at a faster rate with the new bonus experience event. This event awards any players who achieve their first top five finish of the day with an entire tier of the battle pass. That right! If you manage to finish in the top five you will be guaranteed to progress an entire level of your battle pass. This is an excellent incentive to play your best, and the team at Respawn Entertainment have already said that they plan to have more bonus experience events during season one. So if you have fallen behind on your battle pass with the addition of update 1.1.1, you have the chance to catch up on battle pass tiers before the season is over.

Overall (like always) the latest patch for Apex Legends has done great things to improve the entire experience the game has to offer. With players more than happy to accept welcomed changes to various aspects of the game, the real thing that the player-base eagerly awaits is the addition of new content. Though it will be hard to find someone who dislikes the newest patch, you don’t have to look far at all to find someone who is eagerly waiting for the next new weapon, item, or Legend to become available in game. The last time that new assets were introduced into the game was with the arrival of Octane at the start of Season One. Any day now, Respawn has to release something new into the game if they want to keep Apex Legends feeling fresh and new as adjustments to Legends, weapons, and items will only go so far to keep the game feeling fun and innovative.
