The inaugural “Apex Rising Charity ProAm” esports tournament brought together some of the world’s top Apex Legends creators, generating over $300,000 to support the fight against AIDS. The virtual event, which took place on April 20th – 21st and was streamed on Twitch, showcased the talents of 40 high-profile Apex Legends players and celebrities in a thrilling competition for a worthy cause.
Participants in the Apex Rising Charity ProAm included renowned players such as FaZe Clan’s Gent, 100T iiTzTimmy, TSM ImperialHal, NRG SweetDreams, XSET OhNocturnal, as well as famous figures like Max Holloway, Ronnie Stanley, and Jack Falahee. The official charity partner for the event was (RED), an organization co-founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to combat AIDS. The funds raised, totaling $337,668.70, will be donated to Global Fund, one of the largest funders of global health initiatives.
Jon “Falloutt” Kefaloukos, a former professional gamer and current Apex Legends shoutcaster, served as the event organizer. He expressed his pride in the Apex Legends community for coming together to support such a vital cause, providing life-saving testing, treatment, and care to those who need it most. Kefaloukos also shared his excitement about hosting and expanding the event in the coming years.
Huw Davies, Chief Communications and Campaigns Officer at (RED), praised the esports community for stepping up and making a significant impact in the fight against preventable and treatable diseases. He also expressed his gratitude to Jon Kefaloukos and Apex Rising for organizing the event, as well as (RED) partner Panasonic and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for their generous support.
