Aquatico’s Major Update: New Game Modes, Features, and Underwater Adventures

OverSeer Games expands its underwater city builder game, Aquatico, with a significant update introducing new game modes, storylines, and much more.

OverSeer Games has introduced a major update for its underwater city builder game, Aquatico, which launched in February. The update brings players new game modes, a deeper storyline through the Atlantis Project, a polar biome, as well as several gameplay and UI improvements.

In Aquatico, players are tasked with constructing a city beneath the waves to build a sustainable future for humanity. The game features vertical layered construction, enabling players to create stunning domes for their society while keeping production facilities on the ocean floor. Managing population growth and expansion while adapting to unknown ecosystems and interacting with sea life is crucial for survival in Aquatico.

With this update, players can now choose from three different game modes, including the original sandbox mode, story mode, and the newly-added creative mode. The story mode offers sandbox gameplay combined with objectives and quests that reveal the game’s background story. The creative mode allows players to freely construct cities without any restrictions or resource limitations, enabling them to focus on design and enjoy the oceanic atmosphere.

For those looking to delve deeper into Aquatico’s story, the Atlantis Project is now available. After building the Expedition House and gaining access to the global map, players can take on new missions in the Atlantis Project. The goal is to construct a massive underwater hub while progressing through the game.

The update also includes several other changes and improvements, such as:

  1. New polar biome: This biome provides fresh visuals for all flora and fauna on the map and features a higher number of handcrafted maps.
  2. New information panels on initial map selection: Players can easily see the biome type, depth, and temperature details when selecting a map at the start of their game.
  3. Individual citizen conversations: As the population grows, players can gain insight into their citizens’ thoughts and feelings, helping to prevent problems and provide entertainment.
  4. New smart tips system: After completing the game’s tutorial, smart tips will occasionally appear to offer additional instructions or suggestions based on the player’s current position in the game.
  5. Scattered derelicts: Players can now scavenge and dismantle remnants of previous underwater bases to obtain valuable resources.
  6. More apocalyptic scenery: In certain areas, players will be able to see the ruins of former surface cities.
  7. Revamped disasters, attacks, and defenses: Players will need to construct defensive structures to fend off attacks from sharks, pirate raids, and the fearsome Megalodon as their bases grow more robust.

Aquatico is available for players to dive into and start building their underwater civilization on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
