ATLAS Ships Out Sea of Wonders Update Today

Today is a bright new day in the open-water pirate adventure of ATLAS with a brand new map and loads of new content to explore! The ‘Sea of Wonders’ update introduces the beginnings of the Wonder system, as well as six new geographic areas to explore, three new ship types to build, additional Portals to quickly travel region to region, and three Monuments to construct. The ATLAS ‘Sea of Wonders’ update launched today on Steam and Xbox One and is ready for cross-platform battles.

Today’s update lays the foundation for the first Wonder that will be implemented in the next patch. Wonders are massive, distinct structures that grant permanent powerful buffs for the controlling company! Each Wonder can only exist once per server, which means huge bragging rights to the company that builds it. While waiting for the Wonder system to fully launch, companies can begin building Monuments using unique resources found at the new Power Nodes. After collecting these resources, players choose to build one of three types of large-scale, customizable Monuments: Cursed Totem, Burial Mound, and Cursed Temple. After a company has a Monument, they can begin crafting the components needed to build a Wonder!

Visit six new areas based on geographical locations:

  • Rookie Cove – Here all pathfinders can cruise the seas in peace, gather their bearings, and then test their newfound abilities until they are comfortable to progress full sail ahead!
  • Central Waters – The largest area in the game, its host to a healthy mix of tropical islands, but also an ancient evil told in Atlantean myths. Can you find all the power stones and defeat the greatest challenge?
  • South America – A region home to tropical/equatorial areas. However, there seems to be faint chanting amongst this region. Will you be able to find the source of this hidden power?
  • Africa – A region home to the hottest desert Islands around. Crocodiles, venomous snakes, and lots and lots of sand call this region home.
  • Antarctica – The harshest sub-zero climates, icebergs, penguins, and illusive yeti’s populate the islands around here.
  • North Pole – The north pole is similar to Antarctica but to the north. Same freezing weather but perhaps the treasures here are the defining difference.
To travel between locations, players can now discover the newly added Portals, ancient Atlantean technology which allows ships to quickly traverse the expanded globe.

Three new ships are now available in the shipyard to build: the entry-level Cog, the highly customizable Carrack, and the fast and formidable Harrier. Pathfinders can now discover and collect new gear, including the Aztec sword “Macuahuitl”, a Transient Tracker node finder, the Cursed Armor, and the Cursed Grog.
