Electronic Arts and the Battlefield team have unveiled Battlefield 2042’s Season 5: New Dawn, set to launch on June 7th. This exciting new season introduces a wealth of fresh content to the game, including a brand-new map, weapons, gadgets, and quality-of-life improvements, along with 100 new tiers of Battle Pass content. These additions will be available to all players as part of the Free tier in Battlefield 2042’s Battle Pass, while additional cosmetic items can be earned through the Premium version of the Battle Pass.
Season 5 takes the battle to a war and nature-stricken abandoned industrial facility in Czechia, with the introduction of the new map, Reclaimed. Drawing inspiration from the fan-favorite Battlefield 4, Reclaimed offers diverse combat scenarios and requires even closer collaboration among squad members to ensure survival. The derailed train Crash Site presents opportunities for intense vehicle combat, while the Landing Zone forest area allows for close-quarters battles and unveils new sightlines when trees are destroyed. Additionally, the Abandoned Turbine and Military Warehouse provide varying gunplay experiences, from verticality and cover to more confined spaces.
The roster of Season 5 includes a range of weapons, including some beloved Battlefield 4 fan-favorites, all with a fresh new look and sound. The XCE Bar bolt-action rifle, known for its high precision, now boasts expanded attachment capability, allowing players to adapt to different combat distances. The GWE-46, a favorite from Battlefield 4, excels in short burst fire during medium-range engagements. Players can also wield the powerful BFP.50 hand cannon for devastating close-range encounters or operate the Phalanx CIWS, an anti-aircraft emplacement armed with guns and missiles, playable on the Reclaimed map in All Out Warfare modes.
In addition to the arsenal of weapons, Season 5 introduces new explosive options, including the Spring Grenade, Anti-tank Grenade, and Mini Grenade. These grenades offer a variety of detonation types, from bouncing grenades to explosive bundles and micro grenades that provide greater throw speed and distance.
Alongside the content additions, Season 5 brings several quality-of-life improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience. Players can look forward to a new Squad Management system, allowing for better squad coordination and customization. The vehicle loadout system has also been reworked, enabling players to tailor their vehicles to specific battlefield roles. Additionally, Vault Weapons have undergone reworks, and new Thermal Tech and Heavy Anti-Air weapon stations have been introduced. Players can further refine their roles with the recently implemented Class System Update, assigning Specialists to one of four classic classes: Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support.
Later in Season 5, players can anticipate the arrival of Hourglass, the seventh and final reworked launch map. The map has undergone significant changes, including a new route under the highway. These alterations aim to reduce the distance between objectives, improving cover, sightlines, and overall combat dynamics.
Battlefield 2042 continues to evolve with each new season, offering players exciting content and immersive experiences. Season 5: New Dawn brings the intense warfare to the nature-stricken Czechia, delivering fresh challenges and thrilling battles. Prepare for the new season, rally your squad, and get ready to conquer the ever-changing battlefield on June 7th.
