The Boston Uprising announced today the departure of assistant coach Ilias “iLka” Kaskanetas as he takes a hiatus from competitive Overwatch coaching.
“We would like to thank iLka for his coaching insight this season,” said Chris “HuK” Loranger, President of Gaming for the Uprising. “While we are sad to see him step away from Overwatch at this time, we wish him the best in his future.”
iLka joined the Uprising as an assistant coach during the recent off season. In 2019, he helped Atlanta Academy place second in Overwatch Contenders 2019 Season 1: North America West and fourth at the Atlantic Showdown. Shortly after, he coached European team Angry Titans during Overwatch Contenders 2019 Season 2: Europe. From 2016-2018, iLka was a support player. He represented Team Greece in the 2016 World Cup and competed in Open Division before transitioning to coaching.
“I am very grateful for this season with Boston, and I learned a lot through both the good and rough times,” iLka said. “It was a very hard decision, but ultimately I know it’s for the best. I will miss everyone and wish them all a good rest of the season. It was a pleasure working with the team.”
The Uprising’s season will continue this weekend, as they play against the Florida Mayhem at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 26. The match will be streamed live on YouTube.
