The Boston Uprising announced today the signing of tank player Ji-won “Stand1” Seo, a free agent who most recently played for the Shanghai Dragons in the 2020 Overwatch League season. The signing is currently pending league approval.
Stand1, a 21-year-old from South Korea, is best known as one of the Shanghai Dragons’ main tank players during their 2020 season. In 2020, the Dragons won both the May Melee and Countdown Cup in the APAC region, finished atop league standings with a 27-2 regular season record and were one of the four teams to reach the Grand Finals bracket. Prior to his time with the Shanghai Dragons, Stand1 played for Gladiators Legion in Overwatch Contenders, helping them to the 2019 Season 2 finals in North America East and a Gauntlet berth. His time in competitive Overwatch dates back to 2017 as a tank player in Overwatch APEX.
“Throughout the 2020 season and particularly in the unique meta that defined the playoffs, Stand1 displayed flexibility on the main tank role for Shanghai,” said Chris “HuK” Loranger, President of Gaming for the Uprising. “We’re excited to welcome him to Boston and begin working with him alongside Fusions in 2021.”
The Boston Uprising are currently constructing their roster for the 2021 Overwatch League season.
