Caps Gaming, the esports sub brand of the NHL’s Washington Capitals, today announced Zipchair as the Official Chair of Caps Gaming. The two-year partnership marks the first of its kind in the NHL esports community, with Caps Gaming becoming the first NHL esports affiliate to announce a chair partnership.
Through the partnership, Caps Gaming will use Zipchair’s line of gaming chairs including the PhantomX, Xpression and soon to be launched Synergy Pro across Caps Gaming streams, events and content. The branded chairs will be used in Caps Gaming’s weekly streams, by commentators during broadcasts and by Caps Gaming influencers. Caps Gaming will also use Zipchair products in their practice and training facilities, cementing Zipchair as the only gaming chair company that can supply furniture for all seating needs. The collaboration will also feature fan engagement opportunities on social media through giveaways and promotional campaigns, with Caps Gaming and Zipchair conducting multiple social media sweepstakes.
In addition, in honor of the partnership, Zipchair is offering a 15% discount with the promo code CapsGaming. The discount is applicable toward any gaming chair on Zipchair.com and Zipchairgaming.com through April 1, 2021. Zipchair produces an array of NHL team specific gaming chairs, including Capitals chairs. The partnership also now grants the license for Zipchair to produce Caps Gaming chairs.
“Caps Gaming is focused on embracing and elevating the competitive NHL esports community, so we are thrilled to announce Zipchair as the Official Chair of Caps Gaming,” said Zach Leonsis, Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s senior vice president for strategic initiatives. “Zipchair offers our players the best gaming experience in terms of comfort and durability. We are delighted to enhance our gaming experience through the partnership.”
Zipchair’s flagship chair, the Xpression, launched in the summer of 2019 and quickly became a best seller. A racing style gaming chair, the Xpression boasts lumbar and headrest memory foam pillows, 4-D arms, lay flat recline and more. The recently launched Phantom mesh gaming chair is designed to provide maximum ergonomic comfort by properly supporting the users weight while aiding with posture and lumbar region support. The Phantom’s mesh back and seat cradle the body while keeping individuals cool with added air flow and temperature regulation. The Synergy Pro, scheduled to be released in Q2 of 2021, was designed and built with input from Pro gamers. The Synergy Pro combines top quality materials and never-before seen features to deliver a revolutionary gaming chair experience. All three chairs, along with the entire Zipchair line, feature the patented XZipit system, which allows users to zip on and off embroidered logo panels for endless customization options.
“Over the past two years we have grown our esports business and offerings quickly and have become a favorite for high quality branded esports furniture. This would not have been possible without strategic partnerships like this exciting deal with Caps Gaming,” said Chandler Suprina, President of Zipchair. “As a young and growing brand we strive to partner with industry leaders and brands that are ahead of the curve, and Caps Gaming checks both of those boxes. We look forward to working with Caps Gaming to supply quality esports furniture for their players, Caps fans, NHL fans and gamers.”
Introduced in 2015, Zipchair and Zipchair Gaming are the retail sites for DreamSeat. Focused on delivering high quality, comfortable and durable fan furniture to the public, Zipchair.com provides the easiest way for the consumers to order the same furniture for their home as seen and used by their favorite teams and athletes. In 2018, Zipchair launched a personalization feature allowing customers to add their name, number or phrase to Zipchair’s licensed logo panels with only a few days lead time. The following year, Zipchair launched Zipchairgaming.com, a retail site dedicated to licensed logo furniture for gamers.
Caps Gaming and the Washington Capitals are owned and operated by Monumental Sports & Entertainment. Monumental Sports & Entertainment launched Caps Gaming presented by Leidos – an esports sub-brand that aims to help foster the growth of the NHL competitive gaming community and create visibility for hockey’s esports scene – in November 2019. Upon launching, the team also signed the first NHL esports pro officially signed by an NHL organization. Most recently, Caps Gaming facilitated The Great One vs. The Great Eight Showcase in April 2020, a competition between Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and NHL legend Wayne Gretzky that raised more than $40,000 for COVID-19 related causes. In addition, Caps Gaming hosted the premier Caps Gaming Showcase – a 82-team, 6v6 EA Sports NHL competition on Xbox One in December 2019, followed by the Caps Gaming Showcase Finals in February 2020. The 2020-21 Caps Gaming Showcase launched in December 2020 and concludes in March, with more than $20,000 in prizing to be awarded.
