Cinergy Entertainment Group, a leader in the theatrical exhibition and cinema entertainment industries, has today announced a partnership with esports analytics company Harena Data, LLC. to launch virtual esports leagues across the United States. The two companies will offer an online league where esports players can play together, earn Cinergy-based rewards such as free movies, snacks, and gift cards, and enjoy online social interaction with one another all from the comfort of their homes. The league will be supported by Harena Data’s specialized esports platform, GYO Score.
The virtual esports league offers an adaptive form of media during the COVID-world where gamers can safely play together and experience real-time entertainment, similar to the movie theaters. On the virtual stage, thousands of players can compete while being cheered by other participants.
“Our expansion into esports is defining of the times we live in and we believe it’s what our existing audiences and new audiences want,” said Jeff Benson, CEO of Cinergy Entertainment Group. “As we work with Harena Data to incorporate esports into our services, these virtual leagues will be a spectacle of show by offering incentive-based prizes, global interactivity, and multiple leagues for players to participate in.”
“We believe this shift to virtual media is a major stepping stone for the cinema and theater experience,” said Bill Dever, Chief Strategy Officer of Harena Data. “Along with Cinergy, we plan to build various esports entertainment platforms that will define the future of these respective industries.”
The Cinergy virtual esports league will launch nationwide on July 30, 2020.
