Darkside Detective Series Coming to Atari VCS

Atari today announced the launch of the acclaimed The Darkside Detective series — two hilariously spooktacular titles — on the all-new Atari VCS videogame computer system. The point-and-click horror mystery games have been widely regarded as some of the best in the genre, offering plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor, loveable characters, and 15 compelling cases sure to keep you hooked until the very last bit of evil has been vanquished.

Both The Darkside Detective and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark feature-rich storytelling, eye-roll-worthy punchlines, and a touch of spine-tingling self-aware humor. Regarded by Kotaku as “the best point-and-click adventure of all time,” The Darkside Detective series plays on history’s most esteemed horror-mystery stories and leans into everyone’s favorite corny detective tropes. Trench coats are a must. As is the term “Groovy.”

Key Game Features Include:

  • 15 unique standalone cases between both games
  • Pointing AND clicking technology
  • Music from Thomas O’Boyle, a totally-living composer, definitely not undead, and Ben Prunty, the audiomancer behind gems such as Into the Breach, Subnautica, and FTL
  • Photo-Realistic* Pixel Rendering (*Depends on your definition of photo-realism)
  • At least six jokes

You wouldn’t download a Twin Lakes curse, but The Darkside Detective and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark are now available for download on the Atari VCS Store for $12.99 USD each.
