“Death Stranding” and “Last of Us Part II” — Trailers Incoming?

We are just two weeks away from E3, and it seems Sony is making moves. It started on May 26th with Hideo Kojima posting a 30-second clip that shows an imprint of a hand surrounded by black liquid with the words “create the rope” and what appears to be footage from the game inside the print. Then at 5:16 AM EST just days later, Kojima Productions posted on Twitter a picture from the first Death Stranding trailer with the following words: “The Countdown of #DEATHSTRANDING has finally started… May 29th” with the same words “create the rope” following after it.

From the look of things, we may be getting a trailer on May 29th and from many other pics that have been posted on Kojima’s social media accounts, we could actually be getting a gameplay trailer at long last. Sources are claiming the trailer itself may end up being somewhere between 8 minutes to 15 minutes max.

As far as “create the rope” is concerned, it’s something Hideo Kojima himself has been talking about a lot ever since the first trailer of Death Stranding released. The stick versus the rope, saying in interviews that “it’s always about the stick, about fighting each other.” He wants to make a game about connections, about tying ropes together, about strands that connect us all together. All I can say as of right now is that this is Hideo Kojima, this is his new game from his new studio, Kojima Productions, and he is looking to make an impact. Be prepared for anything. As so far, Kojima has surprised us all with the first few trailers since the game was announced.

One of the rumors coming out of Monday is that we will be seeing a new trailer this week from Naughty Dog on The Last of Us Part II. According to a lot of Spanish speaking websites, the trailer will come out sometime this week with a release date for the game as well. Remember to take it with a grain of salt though as it is unconfirmed at this point. With Sony not having an E3 showcase, let alone a presence at E3 this year, they could be setting up for another “State of Play” but as of right now, nothing is confirmed.

The Last of us Part II has been in development now for about three years since it was announced back at the PlayStation Experience Expo in 2016 and is one of PlayStation’s most highly anticipated games for the PS4 along with Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, MediEvil, among others. If anything, this could be true but as I said above, take it with a grain of salt.

Since E3 is just a couple weeks away, PlayStation might be gearing up to show us something with a new State of Play, and with the upcoming trailer from Kojima Productions, plus a possible trailer from Naughty Dog, PlayStation may be trying to get ahead of its competition before they (Microsoft and Nintendo) hit the stage in Los Angeles. If so, only time will tell if it works.
