Sweet Bandits Studios, in collaboration with publisher Tripwire Presents, has announced the release of the DECEIVE INC. Catalog System with the Misery Empire update. Available now on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, this major update introduces a wide range of quality-of-life improvements and balance adjustments based on feedback from the growing DECEIVE INC. community. These changes are aimed at promoting more strategic gameplay while capturing objectives. The update also welcomes the charming and cunning new agent, Red, as the first new playable spy added to the game’s Catalog System, a refreshing alternative to traditional battle pass systems that never expires.
To mark the arrival of Catalog 1 and the Misery Empire update, DECEIVE INC. will be free to play on Steam from Thursday, April 27th at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET until Monday, May 1st at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Highlights of the DECEIVE INC. Misery Empire Update include:
- Catalog System: Sweet Bandits Studios introduces the Catalog System, a player-friendly alternative to traditional Battle Pass systems. With the Misery Empire update, players can unlock the new agent, Red, and other premium cosmetics using Catalog coins earned by playing DECEIVE INC., or with Bonds, the in-game premium currency.
- New Agent, Red: This versatile and devious spy brings a new status effect, Charmed, to the game. Charmed spies are forced back into cover and become slowed and neutralized. Firing weapons while charmed turns spies heartbroken, removing the slow effect but making them vulnerable.
- New HEAT System: To discourage collateral damage and promote higher operational standards, this new system penalizes agents with increased vulnerability and extra damage when they mistakenly target civilians as rival agents multiple times in a row. HEAT levels reduce over time.
- TEAM Intel Update: To encourage more strategic gameplay, Team Intel is now shared among players, making it essential for teams to split up to collect intel while placing more value on acquiring keycards in team games.
- TEAM Revives Update: Downed spies can now be revived by teammates up to three times, with increasing health penalties. This change allows players to stay in the fight longer and contribute more to their team’s success.
- New Looks: The Catalog System also introduces a variety of stylish new agent skins, allowing players to personalize their agents’ appearance.
The standard edition of DECEIVE INC. is priced at $19.99 USD, €19.99 EUR, and £16.99 GBP, with ESRB: T for Teen and PEGI 16 ratings. The DECEIVE INC.
