Lima Major 2023 started on February 22 and ended on March 5. Eighteen teams fought for the prize pool of $500,000 and 1900 DPC points that can grant a team entry into the International. The stakes were major — as the event rank suggests. Let us have a brief overview of the tournament and see the results!

What is Lima Major?

The Dota Major Championships has been a part of the Dota 2 competitive gaming scene since 2015. In 2023, each Major concludes the season Tour, and the participants qualify through the Regional League matches. The Majors tournaments bring the best 8 teams a cash prize and DPC points.

Lima Major is the first 2023 Major event and the first-ever South American DPC Major. It took place in Lima, Peru, as an offline tournament at Arena 1 venue. The tournament had a single round-robin group stage with Bo2 matches, playoffs in a double-elimination bracket with a Bo3 match format, and a Bo5 Grand Final. The event was organized by 4D Esports and Epulze, and it had sponsorships from AORUS, Claro, VSG, Parimatch, Guarana, and BetBoom.

Majors and Betting

All major eSports events are usually accompanied by betting, which is understandable. When the stakes are higher, the teams play at their peak efficiency. Thus, the matches are exciting to follow and there is always some chance for an unexpected turn of events which allows the better to make a good profit. For example, Gaimin Gladiators is a young team only created last year, and they took 11th place at the TI2022, so the victory in this year’s Major is quite a step ahead.

When you want to try, it is important to be well informed to avoid making mistakes and losing money. But doing meticulous research can take a while: reading betting guides, studying and comparing bookmakers to choose the best one. To save time and effort, we recommend visiting an online platform that contains comprehensive information about eSports betting. There, you can find everything in one place and make an informed decision without countless hours of scrolling.

What Next?

There are four more tournaments ahead of us: Regional League and Major for Spring and Summer Tours. We should not forget that the closer Major is to the TI, the better the prize pool is. Regardless of monetary sums staying the same, the next Majors will grant the participants a chance to share 2700 and 3500 points respectively.

Then, the top twelve teams that earned the most DPC points will have a direct entry to the International. For the rest of the spots, the teams will have to fight their way through last-chance regional qualifiers.
