Dystopian life-sim game Orphan Age coming to PC

French indie developer Studio Black Flag today announced Orphan Age is coming to Steam for PC with the release of the official reveal trailer for the game. A dystopian life-sim game where you play not as the soldiers of war, but as the children left behind. Orphan Age asks the player “When our children judge us, what will be the verdict?”

A Kickstarter campaign to help get the game over the finish line also launches today, with a playable alpha demo available.

Orphan Age is a dystopian take on the life sim genre, set against the backdrop of an unforgiving, neon-lit urban wasteland. Your only battle is the fight for survival, scraping out a living in the face of extreme danger as war engulfs the world around you.

You will guide a band of orphans, each with their own skills, emotions, strengths, weaknesses and fears, through a dangerous and ever-changing city in a bitter struggle for survival. Constantly balancing risk and reward, you must make the big decisions to ensure the group stays alive. Build up your base, scavenge, craft and venture out into the city for new recruits, whilst ensuring there are enough supplies to keep going, even when it seems all hope might be lost.

Research

“Orphan Age is an extremely personal project for me, that I’ve been working on it on and off for around 9 years now. It really is a passion project for me and I can’t wait finally be able to share more about it” said Adrien Forestier, creator of Orphan Age: “The game has a strong message that we’re not shying away from. We wanted to turn the often idyllic backdrop of the life-sim genre on its head, and ask the question what will the future we have made be like for our children to grow up in. We hope it will not only make for a thrilling game experience but also offer food for thought.”
