“Survival: Fountain of Youth,” a single-player survival crafting game set in the 16th-century Caribbean islands, has launched in Early Access on Steam for Windows PC today. Developed by Odinsoft and published by Twin Sails Interactive, the game is also slated to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms with the full 1.0 launch.
The game’s narrative is inspired by Juan Ponce de Leon’s legendary 16th-century expedition in search of the Fountain of Youth. Players find themselves stranded on an unfamiliar island after a storm, facing the challenge of securing shelter, scavenging for food and water, and staying healthy amidst diseases and predators.
Players can build a base of operations to store materials and craft tools before venturing out to explore. The Early Access version includes two expansive regions, with plans to add two more regions and islands during Early Access and a fifth region arriving with the 1.0 and console launch. The game involves searching for points of interest, clues relating to missing crewmembers, and a mysterious civilization that once inhabited the islands.
In “Survival: Fountain of Youth,” players can gather materials to craft weapons and tools, upgrade shelters, and unlock valuable perks using survival points. The game challenges players to plan and prepare for survival amidst wild animals and tropical storms. A variety of sea-faring ships are available for exploring new islands and locations, ranging from primitive rafts to advanced Spanish vessels. Players can also set up camps on different islands to aid in longer exploration missions.
The game offers a balance between player-defined adventuring and story-driven questing, allowing players to progress at their own pace. Odinsoft and Twin Sails Interactive aim to refine the game’s complexity and interactions through Early Access, with regular content updates and bug fixes based on player feedback. “Survival: Fountain of Youth” is available on Steam Early Access for Windows PC at a price of $22.99/22.99€, with a 10% launch discount from April 19-26. The game supports English, French, German, Russian, and Simplified Chinese languages.
