FIFINE K658 RGB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone Review

Summary
This K658 USB microphone is specifically designed for gamers and live streamers alike compatible with PC, Console, and mobile devices. The Fifine K658 USB plug-and-play cardioid gaming microphone features a Dynamic microphone capsule with a 16-bit 48kHz sampling rate, Soft-touch mute button, RGB lighting, and a custom shock mount and stand priced at $119.99. At first glance, I love the design of the Fifine microphone, its looks like a Sure SM7B with RGB! At this price tier, I am going to say the sound quality is very solid. We did have a massive “womp, womp” with this product due to the metal ring fastener not screwing into the back of the microphone. The only thing stopping me from saying its worth the spend is our issue with the metal ring fastener. A huge disappointment for such a promising product!

At first glance, I love the design of the Fifine microphone, its looks like a Sure SM7B with RGB! Its housing and pop filter is almost exactly identical if it was not for the giant volume knob on the front side they would be mistaken side by side. They did a clever job with the RGB it comes off the back of the microphone projecting onto the shock mount which has a pattern that enhances the visual. We did have a massive “womp, womp” with this product due to the metal ring fastener not screwing into the back of the microphone. This is a massive issue because the microphone is built to live in this shock mount even if you hang it on a boom.

It comes with everything you need to get started which is always a challenge when buying a microphone like this. If you don’t have a boom yet the factory stand does support the shock mount. When you are ready to attach to a boom then the adapter you need to mount it also comes with your purchase. Anytime your stand is located directly on the desk you are going to get keyboard chatter, but the factory stand certainly helps. An easy setup for both placement at your station and compatibility with your computer. Just plug it in and you are live.

At this price tier, I am going to say the sound quality is very solid. Its medium size diaphragm will give you a decent low tone. This microphone is on the quieter side which is expected from a dynamic microphone but will not require an external preamp. The Fifine K658 does excel in high-end clarity, no one should have any issues understanding your words. Use the tap to mute button on the front of the mic for a quick silence. Easily adjust the gain using the main knob on also onboard the microphone. There is also a headphone jack on the back of the microphone for easy access. Fifine k658 will give you a great sound for the price.

This microphone has a lot of features I really like. The only thing stopping me from saying it’s worth the spend is our issue with the metal ring fastener. A huge disappointment for such a promising product!
