FunPlus Joins the Green Game Jam to Launch an Environmental Awareness Campaign in State of Survival

FunPlus, a prominent mobile game developer and publisher, has joined forces with Playing for the Planet for the annual Green Game Jam initiative. Their collaboration involves the launch of an impactful campaign titled “The Apocalypse is Already Happening to Animals” within the highly popular strategy game State of Survival. The campaign is set to run internationally from June 1st to June 7th, coinciding with World Environment Day on June 5th.

State of Survival, a free-to-play strategy game available on iOS, Android, and PC, has garnered a massive following worldwide. FunPlus aims to leverage the game’s extensive player base to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues and encourage individuals to take actions that contribute to a better future for our planet.

The forthcoming campaign, “The Apocalypse is Already Happening to Animals,” offers players an immersive experience that showcases the devastating consequences of deforestation and wildfires in the Amazon rainforest. By providing a first-person perspective of the destruction faced by flora and fauna, the campaign aims to foster empathy and urgency among players.

To actively engage players and promote environmental preservation, State of Survival will incorporate in-game messages known as Information Capsules throughout the campaign period. These capsules will be accessible through the Broadcast Center of the Settlements, allowing players to explore the rich content and learn more about environmental conservation. FunPlus and Green Game Jam hope to inspire players to take tangible actions, both within the game and in their daily lives, leading to a collective effort in safeguarding our environment.

Chris Petrovic, Chief Business Officer at FunPlus, expressed their commitment to social responsibility through their participation in the Green Game Jam: “Our participation in the Green Game Jam represents a significant step forward in our commitment to social responsibility. Through State of Survival, we have the opportunity to raise awareness and drive positive change for the environment among a huge community of players. We believe in the power of gaming in making a difference and are looking forward to engaging State of Survival players on this topic too.”

The Green Game Jam serves as a platform for gaming studios to come together and implement “green activations” into their games. By participating in this initiative, FunPlus joins a community of like-minded studios that aim to use gaming as an educational and inspirational tool to activate people on environmental topics. This alignment with the Green Game Jam’s vision and strategy positions FunPlus as an ideal partner for this significant undertaking.

Sam Barratt, Chief of Youth, Education & Advocacy at the UN Environment and Co-Founder of the Playing for the Planet Alliance, acknowledged the positive efforts made by the games industry in addressing environmental concerns: “While there is a long way to go, we’ve been really impressed with the creativity and commitment shown by the games industry to act on the environmental agenda to date. The reach and connection to billions of audiences is peerless, and working with studios in the Alliance has started to reveal what is possible in this sector.”

FunPlus and Green Game Jam extend an invitation to players worldwide, urging them to join this groundbreaking environmental campaign within State of Survival. By actively engaging with the campaign’s content and taking action in the game and their daily lives, players can contribute to a more sustainable future and make a tangible difference for our environment.
