Gears of War – HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE GEARS 4 LAUNCH INVITATIONAL EVENT

Gears eSports and MLG are happy to announce the Gears of War 4 Launch Invitational. This event, taking place October 22nd – 23rd live from the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio will feature eight teams from around the world competing in a double elimination event on Gears of War 4 for $25,000! Don’t have a team? Here’s how teams from each region can qualify:

NORTH AMERICA

In addition to the top 3 teams from the recent MLG North American Open – Enemy.GG, Team EnVyUs, and DreamTeam – two more teams from North America can qualify for the event which includes travel and accommodations. The qualifying teams will be determined based on the combined total of Gears Pro Points earned by the top 4 members of each 5-man roster, which must be submitted to [email protected] no later than September 25th at 11:59PM ET (must include GameBattles Usernames and Gamertags). Gears Pro Points are earned by participating on the GameBattles Ladder and in weekly online tournaments. For each match in ladder play, every member listed on the winning team will be awarded 5 points and earn an additional 5 points for their first win each day. In weekly tournaments (every Sunday), each listed member of a given team will be awarded with: 2000 points for 1st, 1200 for 2nd, 800 for 3rd/4th, 600 for 5th-8th, 400 for 9th-16th, and 200 for 17th-32nd. RULES AND INFORMATION

QUALIFICATION
  • Teams will compete towards qualifying for the event by earning Pro Points in GameBattles weekly online Tournaments and Ladders on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition between August 13th, 12:01 AM (EDT) and September 18th 11:59 PM (EDT).
  • Teams must submit a five player roster by September 25th, 11:59 PM (EDT).
  • Submitted rosters must only feature players from the same region.
  • Submitted rosters cannot feature a player from an invited team.
  • Only GameBattles Tournaments and Ladders that award Gears Pro Points will be considered.
  • Regional qualification spots will be determined by combined Pro Points of the four players with the highest number of Pro Points on the submitted roster.
    Example:
    Team X submits their roster of five players: Player 1 (2500 Gears Pro Points), Player 2 (2500 Gears Pro Points), Player 3 (2500 Gears Pro Points), Player 4 (1000 Gears Pro Points), and Player 5 (1500 Gears Pro Points).
    In this scenario, Player 1’s, Player 2’s, Player 3’s, and Player 5’s Pro Points will be combined to determine their qualification.
  • Once qualified teams are determined, an invitation will be sent to the players for the event.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
  • The Tournament will support as many as 8 teams.
  • The Bracket will be Double Elimination. After losing a Match in the Winners Bracket, Teams will enter the Losers Bracket. A Match loss in the Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Tournament.
  • When one Team remains in both the Winners Bracket and the Losers Bracket those Teams will compete against each other in the Grand Final. The Grand Final will begin with an initial Match. If the Winners Bracket Team wins the initial Match, they will win the Tournament. If they Losers Bracket Team wins the initial Match, a 2nd Match must be played. The winner of a 2nd Match will win the Tournament.
SEEDING
  • Seeding for the MLG Gears of War 4 Launch Event will be listed as below:
  • Seeds 1-3 have been predetermined and are based on the results of the MLG Gears of War North American Open in late July.
  • Seeds 4-8 will be randomized and feature the teams who earn their spots through the qualification process.
