GS2 Games Unveils Two New World War I FPS Titles for PlayStation

Intense multiplayer squad warfare on the battlefields of Verdun and Tannenberg coming in January.

GS2 Games announced today that the company is bringing two acclaimed World War I games to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in January 2022. Verdun, the first multiplayer FPS set in an authentic World War One setting, offers a rarely seen battlefield experience of merciless trench warfare that immerses you and your squad in intense battles of attack and defense. Tannenberg brings the massive battles of the Eastern Front to life with up to 40 players fighting for control of the battlefield. Every element of both games has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere of the first World War, from the immersive interface and war-torn maps to realistic music, sound, and voices that evoke the feeling of actually being in the midst of bloody battle.

Inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916, Verdun takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. As a multiplayer FPS set in a realistic Great War atmosphere, the vicious, close-quarters nature of trench warfare means that skill with a bayonet can be as vital as good aim with a rifle.

Five distinct game-modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WWI weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Frontlines game mode features up to 40 human and AI players taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing trench line.

Tannenberg takes place across the lakes, forests, mountains, and snowy plains of the Eastern Front. Players will be able to master a range of authentically modeled equipment brought to the field by the Russian Frontovik and Cossack squads, the renowned Latvian Riflemen, or the Romanian infantry squad. Alternatively, they can join the Central Powers to serve in an Austro-Hungarian K.u.K unit, with the German Infantry or the Bulgarian rifle section.

The game offers several modes, including the exciting Maneuver mode that reflects the nature of the war on the Eastern Front, as up to 40 human and AI players battle across large maps where the objective and battle line is always shifting. Survive by working together with your four-man squad and utilizing your distinctive skills. There is a wealth of historical detail, including realistic weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on real battlefields.
