The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth is a tactical turn-based strategy game based on Games Workshop’s fan-favorite Betrayal at Calth board game. Its early access gameplay trailer presents a preview of the game in action on PC and in VR. The game takes place during the Horus Heresy, which is the origin story for Warhammer 40k. The battle on the planet Calth is one of the opening shots in the war and the first time Brother Legions of Space Marines take arms against one another.
Steel Wool Studios believes it’s important that players experience the Warhammer 40k world from the perspective of a mortal human and not a genetically altered super-warrior. In the game, the player is Ohmnal Sarc, a Mechanicum, which is a sort of engineer character. In single player, Sarc leads Ultramarines in turn-based combat against the traitorous Word Bearers. In multi-player either side is playable. Multi-player is cross platform, so players can be either on PC or in VR and play each other.
