Fireshine Games is set to launch its immersive sandbox detective sim game, Shadows of Doubt, on Steam Early Access on April 24, 2023. The game is designed to offer players a fully-simulated experience in a sci-fi noir world, complete with procedurally-generated cities and individual citizens, each with their own unique name, job, apartment, and daily routine. Players will take on the role of a private investigators who must track down a serial killer while investigating crimes and gathering evidence.
The game includes a variety of equipment and gadgets to help players crack each case, including fingerprint scanners, call history checkers, private email readers, CCTV cameras, and lock picks. They can also approach each case their own way, whether by playing it by the book or resorting to bribery, sabotage, or breaking and entering.
Shadows of Doubt is launching with ‘The Dead of Night,’ a specially crafted case to introduce players to the game, as well as a sandbox mode featuring endless numbers of cases to investigate and civilians to meet. As an Early Access game, the development team is planning to unveil a roadmap next month detailing the additional content and features set to arrive in the game. The full 1.0 release is expected later this year.
The Product Manager at Fireshine Games, Sean Campbell, expressed his confidence in the game, stating that the reaction to the demo and winning the UK Game of the Show award at gamescom 2022 was overwhelming. He added that the game is unique and unlike anything, players have seen before, and he is looking forward to seeing players immerse themselves in the game’s fully-simulated cities next month.
