Female-led Singer Studios has recently announced that the acclaimed actress, producer, director, and artist Lucy Liu will be lending her voice and serving as an executive producer for their highly anticipated VR game, ‘The Pirate Queen.’ This immersive adventure game, set to debut on Steam VR and Quest 2, will bring to life the captivating story of Cheng Shih, the ultimate pirate queen, as she leads one of the largest fleets ever seen through the treacherous waters of the South China Sea.

‘The Pirate Queen’ will have its premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Festival in June, where three levels of this multi-platform experience will be showcased in the Immersive Category and in Competition.

Lucy Liu, renowned for her roles in iconic films like Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill, will not only be lending her voice to the Pirate Queen herself but will also be an executive producer for the game. With her exceptional talent, Liu’s performance is expected to bring depth and nuance to Cheng Shih’s character, making her a truly compelling and memorable figure.

Director Eloise Singer expressed her admiration for Liu’s performance, stating, “Lucy is a formidable talent, and her portrayal of the Pirate Queen is truly exceptional. It was a pleasure working with her to bring this character to life, and her ability to convey depth and nuance has added layers of complexity to Cheng Shih’s personality.”

‘The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend’ will take players on an exhilarating journey of cunning, stealth, and daring maritime exploits. With visually stunning art style and meticulously researched historical accuracy, the game will provide a rich narrative experience that explores themes of female empowerment and diversity, aligning with Singer Studios’ mission to tell stories that challenge the status quo and inspire change.

Cheng Shih, the real-life inspiration behind the Pirate Queen, was a remarkable figure who rose from humble beginnings to command a fleet of 70,000 ships during the 19th century. Singer Studios has meticulously researched her story to ensure that players will have an authentic and immersive adventure.

In addition to Lucy Liu’s involvement, the cast of ‘The Pirate Queen’ also includes Orion Lee, known for his leading performance as King Lu in A24’s ‘First Cow,’ further adding to the talent and depth of the game.

‘The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend’ boasts a variety of gameplay mechanics unique to VR, offering players a diverse and engaging experience. From exploration and puzzle-solving to activities like throwing, climbing, rowing, and fishing, the game aims to captivate players and provide an unforgettable adventure.

Following its premiere at the Tribeca Festival, ‘The Pirate Queen’ is set to release in early 2024 and will be available on Meta Quest headsets and mobile devices, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience.
