Project 99, a game publisher, has announced that due to the overwhelming response from global game developers, the Lv. 99 Game Jam prize pool has been doubled from USD$50,000 to $100,000. The challenge was to reach 777 participants in 7 days to double the cash prize, and the global game developer community rallied together to exceed the registration target in less than 3 days. The Lv. 99 Game Jam has seen interest from developers and universities in over 200 cities worldwide.
In addition to the prize fund and flights to Singapore for finalists, attendees of the Lv. 99 Game Jam will get to hear from prestigious speakers in pre-jam Expert Sessions, including Hideki Okamura, the President of Japan eSports Union, Seiji Aoki, Producer at SEGA (known for Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, Border Break, and Super Monkey Ball), Celia Hodent, UX Strategist (known for Fortnite) and author, Jordan Whitaker, Esports Head Coach (League of Legends, Valorant), and more.
Each speaker will host a session covering topics ranging from game design, ideation, and innovation to broader topics covering representation in gaming and alternate careers in the industry. More sessions and industry speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
