Fulqrum Publishing and Best Way have released an extended single-player gameplay video for their highly anticipated real-time strategy title, Men of War II. The 20-minute video showcases the Battle of Coisson, a mission from the game’s Falaise Pocket story campaign, which takes place from the US perspective. This mission is one of three single-player missions that will be playable during the Men of War II open beta on Steam from May 11th to May 15th.

Set in Normandy in 1944, the Battle of Coisson mission follows Lieutenant Carl Young and the 68th Motorized Infantry Battalion as they embark on a rescue operation to make contact with artillery gunners of Company H, who have ceased communication with command. The battalion is formed from the remnants of two other battalions that suffered heavy losses during the Normandy landings.

In addition to the Battle of Coisson, the open beta will feature two non-campaign single-player missions: Towards Freedom and Ambush. In Towards Freedom, players will command a squad of scouts and NKVD Special Forces on a mission to destroy a German camp and liberate POWs held captive within. Players must employ superior tactics to overcome the enemy’s superior numbers and reserves.

Ambush, the final single-player mission available in the open beta, takes place from the German perspective in Normandy, 1944. The 30th Panzergrenadier Regiment is tasked with ambushing fresh US reinforcements while the main force fights at the front line. The objective is to prevent the new enemy units from reaching the front line at all costs.

During the open beta, the Battle of Coisson, Towards Freedom, and Ambush missions will be playable in both single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes. Players who wish to participate in the Men of War II Open Beta can sign up on the game’s Steam store page by selecting ‘Request Access’ for a Men of War II Playtest, which guarantees access to the playtest.

The open beta will not only offer a selection of multiplayer maps and modes but will also introduce new single-player content and implement gameplay changes based on community feedback from the multiplayer tech test in March. Men of War II is set to be available for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and other digital stores in 2023.
