The wait is finally over for Monster Hunter fans as Capcom’s highly anticipated expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, launches today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Building upon the success of the critically-acclaimed Monster Hunter Rise, which has shipped over 12 million units worldwide, this expansion introduces a new storyline, formidable monsters, innovative combat options, and a wealth of other features that are sure to satisfy both seasoned hunters and newcomers alike.
Set after the events of Monster Hunter Rise, the Sunbreak expansion follows the story of Dame Fiorayne, a valiant knight from the distant Kingdom, who seeks aid from the skilled hunters of Kamura Village. Responding to the call, players will journey to the Elgado Outpost, a research center, and command post tasked with stopping the sinister threat that looms over the Kingdom. At the heart of this threat are the Three Lords, a terrifying trio of monsters inspired by Western horror, including the elemental behemoth Garangolm, the chilling Fanged Wyvern Lunagaron, and the vampiric Elder Dragon Malzeno.
To confront these nightmarish foes, players must master new combat techniques and strategies, such as the newly introduced Switch Skills for all 14 weapon types. These versatile skills allow for a wide range of weapon actions, providing hunters with even greater flexibility during battle. Additionally, players can now utilize two different Switch Skill loadouts, which can be swapped on the fly during hunts using the new “Switch Skill Swap” feature.
As players progress through the expansion, they will explore both new and reimagined locales, such as the snow-capped Citadel and the lush, returning Jungle. These breathtaking environments are teeming with new forms of endemic life and provide the perfect backdrop for the game’s thrilling battles.
Sunbreak also introduces a new way for players to connect with their favorite characters through Follower Quests. These single-player hunts allow players to team up with story characters who have their own unique skills and specializations. As players unlock and complete Follower Quests, they can earn exclusive rewards, further enriching their Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak experience.
Available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak includes all post-release content up to Free Title Update 3 (Ver.13).
