Murder Mystery GamRoot Film Out Today

PQube and Kadokawa Games are excited to announce that Root Film, an artistically stunning and thrilling murder mystery visual novel, is out now on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch!

Root Film transports players to a beautifully detailed like-for-like recreation of some beloved locations in historic Shimane prefecture, the spiritual home of Japanese mythology. It is here, working on the set of a once canceled TV show that you find yourself entangled in a strange and inexplicable series of murders.

Directed by renowned storyteller, Hifumi Kono, and featuring voice acting from Japanese idols i☆Ris, unravel a 10-year-old mystery lost in a 35mm film.

Root Film will be available with 20% off for a limited time only with a launch discount on both the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation 4 store for PS+ members. The 20% off launch price is available on both platforms until 1st April 2021.

Limited Edition Root Film Collectors Box

Available only through our good friends at Funstock, the limited edition Root Film collectors box contains an exclusive 100-page art book featuring a curated blend of environmental scenery, detailed character illustrations, and more, as well as a boxed version of the game complete with unique art sleeve packaging.

The Root Film limited edition box is available on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for Europe and North America.

Root Film takes place on the set of a mysteriously canceled TV series “Shimane Mystery Drama Project”, rebooted for the first time in 10 years. Take the role of 23-year-old Rintaro Yagumo as his excitement for an amazing casting opportunity is quickly curbed, when a horrible murder interrupts their location scouting process.
