Nacon Rig 800 Pro HS Wireless Gaming Headset Review

Summary
The RIG 800 Pro series has now become Nacon’s flagship wireless gaming headset. It features a 24-hour battery life, Dolby Atmos technology, 40mm drivers, and a multifunctional dock priced at $149.90. I think Nacon is on to something here by including this super dope Base Station with Charge Dock. I would like to see 50mm drivers on this headset, it feels like you’re losing a little bit of the low frequencies. Unfortunately, as of now, the HS model is only compatible with PlayStation and PC. You will need the HX model to use it with an Xbox. If you’re in the market for a wireless headset for your PC, RIG has put together a very solid product in the 800 Pro HD.

Nacon has made its way into the gaming accessory market by riding its purchase of RIG from Plantronics in 2020. Now boasting a full line of peripherals, headsets, and audio gear made for video game enthusiasts. Upon release, the new RIG 800 Pro HD has now become Nacon’s flagship wireless gaming headset. It features a 24-hour battery life, Dolby Atmos technology, 40mm drivers, and a multifunctional dock priced at $149.90.

I think Nacon is on to something here by including this super dope Base Station with Charge Dock. I want to dock; docking is a thing, a great thing. I don’t want to dock just to get my wireless headset all charged up. I want my $149.99 headset to sit on a throne at my battle station so I can admire it (And all my visitors of course). A dock to a wireless headset is almost as important as RGB lighting to your gaming station. Believe it or not but I have seen some wireless headsets (I won’t mention any names) that don’t come with a dock.

I am a big fan of all black murdered out designs and the RIG 800 Pro HD is exactly that. It’s a looker for sure. Throw in a little carbon fiber texture on the outside earpieces and we’re in business. It’s sleek, it’s clean, I like it. This headset is ultra-light at only 260 grams or 9.1 ounces. Personally, I don’t mind a smaller cushion if the headset is ultralight as opposed to a larger cushion on a heavier application. These dual-material ear cushions are middle of the road in the comfort category. Overall, you will be able to comfortably wear these for hours of gaming with no issues due to their extremely lightweight.

Onboard you will find 40mm drivers powered by Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. I would like to see 50mm drivers on this headset, it feels like you’re losing a little bit of the low frequencies. Depth in sounds like footsteps can be important to competitive gamers, they need to be heard before you are heard. The sound quality is very solid in all genres. I am especially impressed with the microphone quality! It features a foldable Uni-Directional, 100 Hz – 10 kHz frequency response, -45 dBV/Pa sensitivity, and a 42DB signal-to-noise ratio.

It’s a quality headset but normally I would complain about the $149.90 price tag without any RGB lighting onboard. Nacon is going to catch a pass on this one though because they added the epic Base Station with Charge Dock. Not to mention the murdered-out look of the headset has a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, as of now, the HS model is only compatible with PlayStation and PC. You will need the HX model to use it with an Xbox. In recent years you are seeing headsets break barriers in compatibility making them work on all devices. Depending on your application this could pose a problem. If you’re in the market for a wireless headset for your PC, RIG has put together a very solid product in the 800 Pro HD.
