Nacon RIG Revolution X Wired Controller Review

Summary
Revolution X features over 40 customization options, interchangeable sticks, full button mapping, stick and trigger response curves, 4 or 8 directions for the D-pad, vibration motors, and a weight compartment priced at $99.99. Its main feature for external customization is the weight balancing system. Its stick height adjustment system is also a great external customization feature. We did have an issue with the right stick popping off occasionally when pressing too hard. I addition to its over 40 top tier customization options the Revolution X also is equipped with onboard Dolby Atmos sound technology. I do wish there were more weight options but I am okay with this controller being priced at $99.99.

Upon picking the Revolution up you will find it is made from similar materials to a standard Xbox controller. It won’t be until you pick it up that you will find all of its extra buttons and compartments. Its main feature for external customization is the weight balancing system. We all have different styles of holding them and temperaments when playing, some of us panic and some of us stay cool under pressure. Having an adjustable weight system allows you to balance the controller to the specific way you hold it and distribute the amount of pressure you apply to the buttons more evenly. It makes a huge difference when you find your sweet spot.

Its stick height adjustment system is also a great external customization feature. You can also select between concave or convex stick tops. 4 shortcut buttons are positioned on the back split between the two handles giving you more options to program. Its handles have a mesh imprint on the plastic for extra grip which feels nice. I really like the overall comfort of the controller; it has that premium feel when there is weight in it. Compared to a standard Xbox controller the triggers on the Revolution X have a much wider surface that is angled on each side. So, whether prefer to fully wrap your triggers with your finger or just like tapping the edges you have a nice flat surface to hit. We did have an issue with the right stick popping off occasionally when pressing too hard.

Most importantly it’s the potential for adjustments and customization from the Revolution X Companion App that will give you an edge over the competition. You can find the software easily at the Microsoft or Xbox store and download it for free. Revolution X offers your standard button mapping system and shortcut assignment customization. If you require more advanced settings like response curves and dead zone adjustments for your thumb sticks, you will find those there also. If you really want to geek out beyond advanced you can even adjust settings like variable trigger intensity, axis inversion, 4- or 8-way D Pad selection, and controller vibration intensity. You can take your settings on the road with the ability to store up to 4 profiles onboard. 4 small LED lights near the middle bottom of the controller indicate which profile you are using. You can also turn on an optional green LED which surrounds the right stick if you so choose.

In addition to its over 40 top tier customization options, the Revolution X also is equipped with onboard Dolby Atmos sound technology. A free download of the Dolby Atmos app allows you to utilize the latest spatial technology on any wired or wireless headset. I do wish there were more weight options but it does come with a really nice custom carrying case so I am okay with this controller being priced at $99.99.
