Netmarble announced ASCAP award-winning and BAFTA nominated composer Jack Wall has scored the soundtrack for Overprime, its upcoming strategic action 3D TPS MOBA for Steam. A new video interview with Jack Wall discussing this exciting collaboration can be viewed on the game’s official YouTube channel.
The interview provides an in-depth look at the creation of Overprime’s original soundtrack. Jack shares his creative process for writing music by absorbing every aspect of the game – analyzing concept art, story documents, gameplay mechanics, level designs, and more. Having these various components at his disposal allows him to begin crafting the game’s musical themes.
For Overprime’s soundtrack, Jack pursued his majestic sounds by conducting and recording the score at Giuseppe Verdi hall in Budapest. This was to create a large, epic sound to bolster the memorable theme overall. In regard to working with Netmarble, Jack stated, “We had so much fun, Netmarble staff was always respectful, and thoughtful about their feedback. So it went very well.”
For over 20 years, Jack has created memorable soundtracks across popular video game franchises including the Call of Duty series, Mass Effect series, Myst series, and Lost Planet 3, among many others. Known for working with world-class orchestras, Jack encompasses a diverse range of musical styles and influences: from ethereal ambience, choral crescendos, and heavy tribal orchestra to traditional Asian, Middle-Eastern, Eastern European instrumentation, futuristic electronic soundscapes, and big band jazz recorded with the world’s top musicians.
Overprime is a team-based TPS Action MOBA that anyone can play for free on Steam. Players are engaged in 5:5 play while working with teammates to conquer the Prime battlefield. The game celebrates strategic actions and fast-paced battles by two teams aiming to eliminate the opponents’ territories. Players can choose from one of the many powerful heroes utilizing their unique skills – Warrior, Support, Ranger, Caster, Tank, and Assassin.
