New RTS/FPS Crossover Game Silica Enters Steam Early Access

Silica, the new real-time strategy/first-person shooter crossover game from Bohemia Interactive, has entered Steam Early Access for a limited-time price of $19.99. The game is set on the fictional planet of Baltarus, thousands of light years from Earth, and offers players the option to play as either a Commander in RTS mode or as an Infantry soldier who can control all units and vehicles along with their arsenal in FPS.

Silica also offers three game modes, strategy, prospector, and arena, for players to choose from. It is the first title from the Bohemia Incubator, a new label of Bohemia Interactive aimed at helping indie game makers develop and introduce their dream games to a global audience.

The immersive blend of first-person shooter and real-time strategy, each true to its respective genre, has sparked the interest of gamers around the world in less than a month, as evidenced by the over 90,000 Steam wishlist entries and the rapidly forming Discord community. The game features six unique locations, five infantry classes, 11 distinct vehicles, and eight alien creatures.

Silica will remain in Early Access for 9-12 months, during which lead developer Martin “Dram” Melichárek plans to implement significant expansions and features based on community requirements. The game is priced at $19.99 during Early Access and will cost $24.99 after its conclusion.

The developers have also presented a look behind the curtain of the development of the game and gameplay demonstrations playing for the human faction and the original inhabitants of the desert planet Baltarus, the game world of Silica.

The game’s AI control for both commander and units allows for seamless gameplay, and its singleplayer and multiplayer options provide a range of experiences for players. Silica’s mix of genres is an exciting new development for fans of real-time strategy and first-person shooters, and it is sure to offer a unique experience for players looking for a new challenge.
