New Social App Uses Psychology to Introduce Users to New Games and Gamers

GameTree launches in North America after a successful beta in Europe. The application uses personality matching to connect like-minded people and provide personally catered game recommendations.

Conservative estimates put the number of people playing games somewhere north of one billion worldwide. Despite this, there does not exist a unifying platform or social network where gamers can discover new games across all platforms or connect with other enthusiasts. This is part of what GameTree CEO, John Uke, hopes to solve.

“Gamers and casual enthusiasts alike struggle to find other people who enjoy the same games. Meanwhile, an onslaught of forums are developing thanks to the growing number of systems and platforms available,” said GameTree CEO, John Uke. “We wanted to create one platform where gamers could discover the games they will love most and meet like-minded or complementary people in an increasingly lonely and crowded world–all based on the science of personality preferences.”

Upon signing up to GameTree, users are directed to a questionnaire which combines gaming and interpersonal preferences. Alongside machine learning, the test uses the 16 personalities framework, and a Gamer DNA test, which are then used to inform game recommendations and connect people.

GameTree is for everyone, not just serious gamers. The application allows for next-level matching across 180,000 games, from tabletop board games to role-playing games (RPG) on consoles, mobile first-person shooter games to massively multiplayer online (MMO) games on desktop. Users may filter across location, skill levels, and much more. Over a hundred thousand true friendships have already been forged across Europe from this new movement.
