Game development students from Finland will organize the next Northern Game Summit in October 2018.
Northern Game Summit is an annual video game convention organized by game development students from Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KUAS). Held for the first time in 2012, the annual convention has already become a famed tradition in the Nordic countries, with noteworthy speakers coming from Finland and abroad.
The six-year-old event has seen many famous speakers with repeated appearances. The last year’s star guest was John Romero, who was one of the founders of Id Software and became a legend from the game Doom (1993). This year’s already announced speakers include Chris Remo (composer and designer famous from Firewatch, Gone Home, The Cave, Thirty Flights of Loving), David Dunham (HeroQuest, King of Dragon Pass, Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind), Bjarni Arnason (Duke Nukem Forever, Borderlands 2, Battleborn), Arcade Berg (Gears of War 2, Wolfenstein: The New Order) and Felicia Prehn (legally blind producer and manager at Nopia Oy and accessibility advocate). This year’s speaker list will be published in portions before the event. The updated speaker list can be found on the official website.
Northern Game Summit will be held in the Bio Rex movie theatre and the surrounding venues in the Kajaani centre on October 4th and 5th 2018. Kajaani is located 550 kilometers north from Helsinki with easy access by daily direct flights.
Northern Game Summit is the event for game creators to mingle, connect and exchange ideas. The event has three parts – The Business Mixer, Bonus Stage Party, and the Northern Game Summit itself. The event has six different tracks: Design, Production, Art, Level Up, Business and Tech.
The Business Mixer is a pre-party of Northern Game Summit. Game developers and others can mix’n’match before the conference on October 3rd. The Bonus Stage Party is the official after-party of Northern Game Summit. Filled with drinks, food and awesome people from all corners of the gaming industry. The party will be arranged in the evening of October 4th.
The tickets for the two-day event can be bought on the official Northern Game Summit website. Second and third degree students are entitled to buy the affordable Academic Pass. Limited number of Early Bird tickets are also available until August 15th.
