Oculus Connect 3 Starts Tomorrow — Schedule, Highlights, and More

Posted by Oculus

Oculus Connect 3 starts tomorrow in San Jose. This year has over 40 technical talks, workshops, and roundtables with 80 industry leaders across 50 companies and studios!

What to expect

Wednesday kicks off with John Carmack’s live app reviews, followed by afternoon sessions including “Minecraft: Breaking the Rules of VR,” “Making Arizona Sunshine: Cutting and Polishing a VR Gem,” and more.

Don’t miss Thursday morning’s opening keynote where we’ll reveal what’s next for the Oculus platform. If you can’t be there in person, catch the live stream on Twitch and watch from your Gear VR with the NextVR app.

The OC3 lineup includes speakers from Felix & Paul, Insomniac Games, Ubisoft, Microsoft Studios, and the United Nations. This year you’ll:

  • Discuss what it takes to create natural-feeling social experiences in VR with veteran game designerMike Booth
  • Learn how to take your VR game from PC to mobile with High Voltage
  • Hear from Oculus Audio Content Lead Tom Smurdon and Software Engineer Pete Stirling about audio design
  • Pick up tips from the trenches on 360 Video from Mediamonks and Here Be Dragons
  • Explore the nuances of mobile VR game design with OZWE CEO Stephane Intissar, indie game designer E McNeill, Turbo Button’s Nic Vasconcellos, Temple Gates Games Co-Founder Theresa Duringer, and Oculus Partner Engineer Manager Chris Pruett
  • Take a series of technical deep dives on the Oculus Social Platform with Oculus Product ManagerLauren Vegter, Platform Services Engineering Manager Adam Hupp, and Matchmaking Engineering Lead Drew Hoskins

And much more.

Download the official OC3 app for session descriptions, breaking announcements, and FAQs.

30 playable experiences at OC3!

Get a first look at cutting-edge immersive content and experience the magic of hand presence. You can book your demo experience using the OC3 app.

One of the new titles we’re most excited for is Landfall from Force Field VR. This immersive tactical action game takes advantage of the “diorama” effect made possible in VR, placing you just above the battle with a panoramic third-person view. When the gameplay calls for more precision, jump to a first-person POV to provide cover for your team.

Landfall debuts at OC3 and will be playable for the first time at the show!

This is going to be a great Connect—see you on the show floor!
