Play NYC Goes Virtual, Free, & One Week Long This August!

We announced our 4th Play NYC convention last fall. It was shaping up to our biggest year yet. Then COVID-19 changed life as we know it.

New York has been on pause. Yet despite trying times, we’ve seen so much hope in how folks have risen up to face the challenges of our reality. This is the greatest city in the world with the strongest people in the world. And games have the power to unite, inspire, educate, and heal. Especially now.

That’s why we’re excited to re-announce Play NYC 2020. For the first time, this year’s show will be online, free to attend, and a full week long. Play NYC is our love letter to New York, from the Playcrafting community and beyond. Join us August 10th to 16th to celebrate the spirit of our hometown with games, talks, tournaments, and more.

BIG UPDATES FOR PLAY NYC 2020

While we wish that this year’s show could once again unite us all in person, our virtual Play NYC 2020 already has some exciting updates:

  • Celebrating Black game developers. Graffiti Games is an important part of each Play NYC where we commission exclusive games for the show. We’re honored to amplify the creative voices of Black game developers with this year’s initiative.
  • Supported by the NYC Mayor’s Office for Media and Entertainment. We’re grateful for the official support of the Mayor’s Office, which is featuring the Play NYC poster on phone booths and bus terminals across the city!
  • Around the world, united for New York. Play NYC will feature games and creators from the New York area as well as games, speakers, and companies from around the world, united by the spirit of our home town.
  • Free for indie developers to exhibit. If selected, indie developers and studios will be able to participate for free for the first time ever.
