Resident Evil 2 Remake – Top Tips for Survival

The new “Resident Evil 2” release can be a challenging game to survive through if you don’t know what to do. Even if you’ve played the original classic on Playstation, it doesn’t follow the same strategy … So here are the top five tips you’ll need in order to traverse Raccoon City and not worry about dying so easily.

Tip 1: Learn to Use the Map

The map is one of the most essential tools to survival. It provides you with the layout of the area and displays where you  have and have not been. Not only does it show you what room you have explored, but it will also show you items that you have not picked up. Items that you have looked at and have not picked up (whether you didn’t want to pick it up at the time or you just did not have enough space) it will be marked on the map. Another great aspect of the map is that it will mark the room blue if you are truly done with that area. If it’s red, then there’s an item still there or you have missed a clue.

Tip 2: Conserve Your Ammo

The amount of ammunition available to you is not enough to kill all the zombies nor even most of the zombies you encounter. Ammo is limited and you may need to save them for a stronger foe down the line.

Tip 3: Run from Mr. X

Mr. X, also known as the Tyrant, is one of the biggest baddies in this game. He is like The Terminator with only one mission; to get and stop you permanently from escaping. Even if you save your fire power and use it all against this enemy, he will get right back up after a brief moment off camera. He does not stop and will start to haunt you with his footsteps as they creep up on you in a different room. It is best to avoid and run from Mr. X as much as possible. That goes for when you’re trying to solve the current puzzle. “Save Rooms” are the only rooms that Mr. X is not able to enter.

Tip 4: Use the Combat Knife

One of the most useful weapons is the combat knife. Once you obtain the combat knife, you are able to use it as a weapon or as a critical self defense tool when a creature goes in for the bite when they grab ahold of you. When a zombie gets you and it looks like he’s about to bite (and you have the knife equipped), it will prompt you to use it thus stopping the zombie from biting you. Just be sure to pick up the knife from the zombie once it is down! Another way to get the best use of the knife is making sure a zombie is really down. If you venture out and see a zombie you killed on the ground, it may still get up. Use the knife to slash at it to check or even cut off limbs so that it is now immobile and won’t pose as much of a threat. One of the drawbacks of the knife though is that unlike its original game on the Playstation, it is not unlimited and does deplete after each use.

Tip 5: Board the Windows

In the Police Station, there are lots of windows that you can see zombies banging on and trying to get in. Luckily, there are items in the environment that will assist in boarding up windows that zombies are trying to break through. If there are windows that are already damaged, you can  board those up as well. This stops more zombies from coming in, and believe me, you don’t want a room full of zombies spawning over and over again. That’d be a madhouse of wasted ammo or a room to be avoided at all times.
