Pentakill, a virtual heavy metal band from the massively popular video game “League of Legends,” is set to release III: Lost Chapter, the band’s first full-length album in four years.
According to game developer Riot Games, III: Lost Chapter will be a narrative-driven concept album based on the lore of Pentakill and the fictional kingdom from which the band hails.
The 10-track album will feature Pentakill’s signature face-melting metal songs of glory and destruction as they traverse a range of metal subgenres in their quest to enter new sonic realms behind the galvanizing vocal force of Karthus and Kayle, gargantuan riffs by Mordekaiser (Master of Metal), brutal bass lines by Yorick, keyboardist Sona’s enchanting harmonics, and thunderous beats by drummer Olaf.
III: Lost Chapter will be available on all major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and more on September 8th, 2021. Fans can pre-save the album to their playlist in advance of the release.
“We’re excited to showcase the next stage of Riot’s expansion into music,” said Toa Dunn, Head of Riot Games Music. “Pentakill will expand on how we drive deep, connected narrative experiences around our musical releases and will showcase that we aim to push the envelope in storytelling and artistry wherever we can.”
Fans got a taste of one of the tracks during a performance at the League Championship Series’ 2021 Mid-Season Showdown, which took place at Los Angeles’ famous Greek Theater in Griffith Park on April 11th, 2021.
