‘Rising Star 2’ Plots Its Feature Tour After Successful Steam Launch

Rising Star 2 has officially launched on Steam. As well as offering positive reviews (86% positive), its music community has gone all-in on feature requests, with solo development studio Gilligames having released their first update (CD designer), as well as a roadmap on what’s to come.

“The reaction to Rising Star 2 has been fantastic so far. The community has gotten very active in the Steam community hub almost immediately, with suggestions, questions, and hints to help each other out.” said studio founder, Todd M. Gillissie. “Some people have found that the game isn’t for them – that’s totally OK – but the ones that like it, really LOVE it.”

Roadmap Features:

  • Enhanced graphic designer for banners, CD covers, van paint, and T-shirts.
  • Band journal.
  • Option to play without 3D environments to move through (basically just a stats game at that point).
  • Musicians that can also be singers while playing instruments on stage.
  • Ability to make your own soundtrack playlist.
  • Ability to export band photos.
  • Ability to buy/sell equipment directly between band members.
  • Ability to add/edit/remove the cities on the map.
  • Many Quality of Life Improvements.
  • Late game balancing of CD sales and gig results.
  • Equipment repair balancing.
  • Lots more clothing!

Further in the Future:

  • Random song generator, so you can hear what your songs sound like.
  • Random lyrics generator.
  • Stage designer.
  • Music festivals.
  • More maps around the world.
  • Parties for inspiration, happiness, relationship building, and other shenanigans.
  • Promotional events like interviews, in-store appearances, and merch tables.

As a solo development project, Rising Star 2 blends the statistical, tactical gameplay of Football Manager and seamlessly mixes it with the musical bones of Rock God Tycoon, into a perfect harmony. Players can customize their band, tweak their setlists, trash hotel rooms, buy their first pad, and secure a manager: it’s completely down to you on how you pursue your path to fame.
