New version features exclusive weapons and gameplay modes.
Aksys Games announced that RICO London, the follow-up to Ground Shatter’s stylized, cell-shaded, Rogue-like buddy cop shooter, is available now in North America for XBOX One and XBOX Series X|S. This new version features an exclusive Challenge mode which offers a brand-new way of playing RICO London, either solo or in co-op mode, as well as new prototype weapons.
London, New Year’s Eve 1999. You are a cop tasked with neutralizing the notorious and violent gangs of the city. Play solo or with a friend in co-op mode and move through a variety of procedurally generated levels to wipe out the gang threat that is increasing all over the capital in this ode to retro arcade shooters. Many of the levels are set in abandoned buildings such as derelict hospitals and office spaces in East London, most of which have been taken over by gangs.
At the end of each level, players can upgrade their characters with a selection of random items and further enhance their upgrades with effects to make them more effective. A global leader board and rewards will support the co-op features in-game. For this iteration, the developers focused on the aspects of gameplay that were most popular in the original, resulting in more enemy variants and environmental scenes compared to the first game, and hostage situations and new weapons have been added to ramp up the intensity.
The all-new Challenge mode introduces 10 new handcrafted scenarios that will put even the most skilled of players to the test! Scenarios include Sniper Training, Rescue Mission, Ranged Attack, Killing Spree & more. Each contains two missions, which can include: surviving for a set amount of time, killing with headshots only, no use of syringes, time attack score challenges, killing enemies with specific weapons, and more! Challenges may be played either Single Player and Co-Op.
As players ascend the building via the usual upgrade path, they may encounter two new prototype weapons, which, like other weapons in the game, have a range of variants with unique names and skins. With an integral suppressor and hand-tuned balance, the SILEX-9 is the ultimate high-value sidearm, while the latest experimental import from a secret weapon manufactory, the ACR Assault Rifle combines high-capacity magazines with a devastating rate of fire.
RICO London has been rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB.
