Steel Defier Out Today, Invites Players to Explore and Survive in a Futuristic World

Ratalaika Games, an independent publisher, has partnered with Brazilian indie developer Viridino Studios to release Steel Defier, a stand-alone title that spans multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The fast-paced gameplay of Steel Defier puts players in the shoes of the only survivor of a disastrous malfunction in the defence system of a giant spaceship that serves as a prison for all kinds of lawbreakers. The main objective is to find the landing site where players can steal a smaller spaceship and escape from prison. The spaceship is a maze with many rooms and an operational defence system that is constantly hunting down the player with various traps, making it essential to locate suit upgrades to increase the survivability rate.

Steel Defier features 40 rooms, each with a different combination of traps, with different speeds and environmental conditions. Every item in the game provides the player with a different ability to enhance their dodging capabilities. The player can collect suit upgrades that allow them to slow down time, dash through traps, and even double jump. Although the player cannot fight the spaceship’s defence system directly, the game is still full of action, with the player surrounded by increasingly aggressive traps. As the player moves further from their prison cell, Steel Defier’s difficulty increases, with more and more traps showing up after each visited room.

The charming and functional presentation of Steel Defier includes low poly models and pixel art textures that achieve the final look, making it more intuitive and easier to spot what players are looking for, plus giving a more open and non-cluttered environment. Music is also delightfully managed, with an “alien” feel to match the spaceship and environment. Steel Defier is out now on multiple platforms.

Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows
