Switch Exclusive ARK: Dinosaur Discovery Adds New Map in Latest Update

Today Studio Wildcard, along with development partner Grove Street Games, announced the first major content update for ARK: Dinosaur Discovery! Currently exclusive to Nintendo Switch, this kid-friendly, dino-fact-filled adventure now includes a new map, teleport abilities, and a whistle feature to call on-demand a favorite tamed creature! ARK: Dinosaur Discovery is available for $9.99 on the Nintendo eShop and players who purchase ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition will be able to download it for free.

Designed for younger players with simplified controls that can be played with a single Joy-Con, ARK: Dinosaur Discovery allows kids to explore the ARK island without violence, unlock illustrated Dino Books narrated by the voice of HLN-A (Madeleine Madden) and learn about the fascinating prehistoric creatures that inspired ARK: Survival Evolved.

A full game map can now be accessed from a player’s Bookshelf. Explore the full breadth of the Island and plan all adventures accordingly.

Now survivors can teleport to any previously discovered creature zones!

Once the ability to ride a creature is unlocked, use the new Whistle button to immediately spawn a tamed creature to a location.

All creature movement animations have been updated to improve their handling in the game. Smilodons now run smoother, Pteranodons now land easier, and Procoptodons can jump higher!

Full language support has been added for Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Sarah Emi Bridcutt also returns to reprise her role as HLN-A, lending full Japanese VO support to the game.

Numerous bug fixes have been made to improve the player experience.
