Technical Stress Test Starting for Age of Empires IV Starts September 17th 2021

This weekend Xbox Game Studios is holding a technical stress test for “Age of Empires IV,” running from 10:00 am PT on September 17 to 10:00 am PT on September 20th. This is designed to test the servers and systems, ahead of launch on October 28th, 2021, and ensure that matchmaking, lobbies, and additional systems perform at scale. The stress test build will be available on Steam and through the Xbox Insider App hub on PC – no invite or NDA required for entry, and you can “pre-sign-up” in both locations to stay in the loop starting Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

  • Participants must meet “Age of Empires IV” minimum spec
  • The test is largely focused on the multiplayer experience, but will also include the opportunity to play against AI in the Multiplayer Custom Lobby and Mission Zero (tutorial)
  • There will be five maps and four civilizations available. Available civilizations include the English, the Chinese, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Abbasid Dynasty
  • Please provide feedback in the official Age of Empires forums

This test will feature in-development gameplay builds that are not necessarily representative of the final experience, and are subject to change over time. The purpose of this test is to collect and implement feedback on specific systems and servers ahead of launch; please keep this in mind as you play and if you decide to cover your experience.
