Killer Instinct presents the haunting origins of the game’s newest hero, the vampire Mira, in Shadow Lords—a Killer Instinct online novella.
Written by KI’s narrative designer, award-winning author Noble Smith, Shadow Lords’ first chapter, “The Road to Ravensburg,” is now available for fans to read for free online.
“Killer Instinct is a franchise with millions of players, and the fans have been hungry for deeper lore and exciting stories about the characters they love,” says Smith. “This story is for them.”
New chapters will be posted every Friday and will include original illustrations from Microsoft Studios artist, Patrick Shettlesworth. This action-adventure story introduces fans to the three newest characters in Season 3 of Killer Instinct: Mira as well as Kim Wu and Tusk. It also sets the epic stage for Season 3’s single player campaign mode, also called Shadow Lords.
“The Shadow Lords novella isn’t just a stand alone experience,” Smith explains. “The rivalries and conflicts we introduce in the story will continue in the game’s campaign mode—and we can’t wait for fans to play what we have planned.”
Killer Instinct: Season 3 is available now on Xbox One and Windows 10.
