Tyrian Inspired ‘DreadStar’ Warps Into Steam’s Autumn Festival

DreadStar: The Quest for Revenge is now playable as part of the Steam Autumn Festival. The top-down shooter inspired by Tyrian is a Featured Demo under both Action and RPG categories, and is officially set to launch on Steam on October 20th for $9.99. Bringing a pumping chiptune soundtrack and pixel-perfect gunplay, DreadStar blends RPG elements into the genre, including level-ups, skill points and ship upgrades, without putting players through bullet hell.

For a truly authentic retro experience, DreadStar is presented in 4:3 with an old-school CRT mode. The full game will also release with 6 replayable sectors, multiple difficulty settings, leveling, skill points, ship upgrades, numerous customization options and weapons ranging from the Gauss Cannons to Hadron Exploders.

With its lead developer taking part in an Ask Me Anything on Discord, as well as a Live Stream catch-up in case you missed it, players who download the demo will get to experience the gorgeous pixel art and challenging gameplay while trying their hand at racking up a high score. Do you have what it takes?
