Tripwire Interactive, the developer and publisher of Killing Floor 2, has announced the launch of the highly anticipated Deep Blue Z update. Available now for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One X, this update plunges players into the depths of the ocean with a plethora of exciting new content, including a new map, game mode, weapons, and more.
One of the major highlights of the Deep Blue Z update is the introduction of a new featured community map called Subduction. Set deep within the Mariana Trench, players will explore a Horzine ocean lab that was believed to be cut off from the wider Zed outbreak. However, after a loss of communication, players are tasked with entering the facility and salvaging any recoverable items through Horzine excavation efforts. Subduction promises a unique and thrilling gameplay experience, offering players an underwater adventure like never before in Killing Floor 2.
In addition to the new map, the Deep Blue Z update brings forth a new weekly game mode called Contamination Zone. With each wave of Zeds, a safe area is designated on the map. Players must fend off the relentless hordes of Zeds without venturing outside the safe zone, testing their survival skills and tactical prowess. To commemorate this new game mode, players can expect Contamination Zone-themed skins for the welder and syringe, adding a touch of customization to their arsenal.
Two new weapons make their debut in the Deep Blue Z update. The first is the S12 Shockgun, a semi-automatic shotgun that excels in close-quarter combat. Equipped with an under barrel EMP blast launcher, this weapon is perfect for stunning large groups of Zeds, providing players with a powerful tool to hold back the onslaught. The S12 Shockgun can be purchased individually or obtained through the Armory Season Pass 2 or Ultimate Edition Bundle and Upgrade.
The second weapon introduced is the HRG Bombardier. Designed to offer aerial support, this deployable turret drone comes armed with a grenade launcher and can be detonated using an explosive cluster bomb. With the HRG Bombardier, players can rain havoc upon their enemies from above, adding a new dimension to the gameplay and expanding the available strategies to overcome the Zed menace.
To enhance the overall player experience, Killing Floor 2 introduces a new Cosmetic Season Pass. With this pass, players gain access to hundreds of skins, accessories, and outfits, allowing them to personalize their characters and weapons to suit their own style. Furthermore, the Deep Blue Z update brings a fresh wave of summer cosmetics, including the Stingray Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, Jaeger MKIV Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, Junkyard MKII Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, Predator Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, and Horzine Diver Outfit Bundle. These cosmetic additions provide players with even more options to stand out on the battlefield.
