Let’s delve into the details of what players can expect from this update.

Sonic Collaboration

To commemorate the release of ver. 2 and the upcoming Sonic Collaboration on June 21st, PSO2: NGS will be offering in-game codes for Sonic shoes. These codes will be distributed to players who sign up before June 14th, with the codes being emailed to their inbox on June 14th.

Anime Expo 2023

The highlight of the update is undoubtedly the introduction of the Creative Space, a significant evolution from the Personal Quarters of PSO2. In the Creative Space, players are granted their very own island, where they can unleash their creativity. Using Build Parts, customizable building materials that can be modified in scale and color, players have the freedom to design and construct building interiors and exteriors. They can even shape the terrain of the island, creating mountains and valleys to their liking. Furthermore, players can collaborate with others to build massive structures.

To enhance the interactive possibilities of the Creative Space, the Connect System allows players to link various parts together. This enables them to create activities such as mazes and quiz games, as well as open and close doors and turn on lights. The creations made in the Creative Space can be saved as Designs, allowing players to duplicate, reposition, and share their creations with others. Shared Designs can be downloaded and used by players in their own spaces. However, to reproduce the contents of a Design, players must possess the specific Build Parts used in that Design. It is worth noting that there is no cost associated with downloading Designs, and the owners of downloaded Designs will not receive any rewards.

Build Parts can be obtained using Genesis Points (GP), a new type of point system introduced in NGS ver. 2. GP can be acquired from the GP Tree located in the Creative Space, as well as from Weekly Tasks and Limited-time Tasks provided by Arche, the ARKS Architectural Researcher. Arche also offers tutorials on the basic controls for the Creative Space, enabling players to earn GP while completing tasks.

Among the various Build Parts available for purchase with GP, players can acquire objects with unique functions, such as the ARKS Decoy, which allows them to place a clone of their character, and the IntraSpace Teleporter, which enables them to jump between two locations. Additionally, some of the furnishings from PSO2 have been transformed into Build Parts and introduced as new items. In addition to Build Parts, GP can be exchanged for Augment Capsules, Aegis Integra, Ajax Armor, and other items that prove useful in battle. Make sure to explore these exciting possibilities when ver. 2 arrives!

Players looking to infuse their Creative Space with a luxurious resort-like atmosphere can now obtain the Resort Build Parts Pack from the in-game AC Shop. This pack includes five different types of Build Parts, including a pool and hanging chairs, allowing players to create their own paradise.

Furthermore, players can indulge in a collaboration pack featuring costumes inspired by Sega’s beloved Sonic characters. This collaboration pack also includes themed Build Parts specifically designed for the Creative Space. Players can find this pack at various stores and the in-game AC Shop. As an added bonus, the pack comes with a 15-day Premium Set ticket and other consumable items, further enhancing the gaming experience.

In addition to the exciting features of the Creative Space, the update introduces Chapter 6, Part 1 of the Main Story. Players will embark on a new journey as Zephetto unveils a series of revelations about Leciel, the once mysterious “floating island.” Alongside these revelations, a new threat emerges, prompting Crawford to discuss countermeasures with leaders from each region. The protagonist and Aina, the trusted companion, will be assigned new missions to prepare for the upcoming battle. To ensure a smoother progression through the Main Story, adjustments have been made, including the elimination of damage attenuation and Battle Power requirements for Story Quests, as well as a reduction in the level of enemies.

To enhance communication among players, Portable Holograms make their debut as a new feature. These holograms can be placed throughout each ARKS base and the open field, allowing players to express themselves and interact with others in creative ways. While multiple Holograms can be placed simultaneously, there are certain cost restrictions to consider. It’s important to note that Holograms automatically disappear when a character moves a set distance away or when logging out or transferring to another Block.

There are three types of Holograms available: Objects, Effects, and Paint. Players can even apply Paint to floors and walls, adding personalization to their surroundings. Initially, there will be basic Holograms available, but additional variations, similar to Emotes, will be included in AC Scratch Ticket prizes. With the introduction of Portable Holograms, players can truly bring Planet Halpha to life.

Another notable addition to the game is the Cel Shading feature for characters. This feature allows players to modify the visual style of their characters, giving them a distinct appearance. Detailed adjustments, including Outline Emphasis and Shadow Density, enable players to personalize their character’s visual settings. It’s important to mention that this feature is exclusive to NGS and does not apply to PSO2 Blocks.

With the release of Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis ver. 2, ARKS agents have a plethora of exciting features and content to explore. The introduction of the Creative Space opens up a world of possibilities for players to unleash their creativity and build unique environments. The Sonic Collaboration and Anime Expo 2023 add extra excitement to the game, offering exclusive merchandise and cross-brand experiences. The updated Main Story, Portable Holograms, and the Cel Shading feature further enhance the gameplay experience, providing new avenues for communication and personalization.

Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis ver. 2 is set to captivate players with its expansive world and engaging features. Whether players choose to dive into the Creative Space, embark on the Main Story, or partake in collaborative events, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this immersive online action RPG.
