UPRISING ACQUIRE RICHARD “RCK” KANERVA IN TRADE WITH FUEL FOR LUCAS “NOTE” MEISSNER

The Boston Uprising announced today that the team has acquired Richard “rCk” Kanerva from the Dallas Fuel in a trade in exchange for Lucas “NotE” Meissner.

Kanerva joined the Fuel on a two-year contract prior to Season 2 from the Overwatch Contenders League: Europe, where he competed on Team Gigantti. The Finland native plays both off-tank and flex tank and broke into professional Overwatch with the Finnish esports team ENCE Esports.

“We are excited to welcome rCk to the Uprising,” Loranger said. “We look forward to having him as a part of the team moving forward and believe he will be a key contributor for us.”

Meissner joined the Uprising from Toronto Esports prior to the Overwatch League’s inaugural season. The 20-year old flex tank played a key role in Boston’s first season and started each match this season.

“We want to thank NotE for his many contributions to the Uprising,” said Chris “HuK” Loranger, President of Gaming for The Kraft Group. “He was a key part of our team as a player and a person and we wish him nothing but the best of luck with the Fuel moving forward.”

The Uprising will begin Stage Two against the Atlanta Reign on April 4 at 8:45 p.m. Eastern time. Boston finished Stage One with a 4-3 record and qualified for the playoffs before losing to the eventual champion Vancouver Titans.
