Vivox Now Powers Voice Chat in Gameloft’s Modern Combat 5: Blackout

Vivox, the leading provider of cross-platform voice and text communications for games, is pleased to announce that Gameloft, leader in the development and publishing of games, has selected Vivox to power voice and text communications for Modern Combat 5: Blackout. Vivox will bring its industry-leading technology to Gameloft’s worldwide smash hit with the game’s next update, providing voice communications to the more than 100 million players who have downloaded Modern Combat 5 on iOS and Android devices. Modern Combat 5: Blackout is the first Gameloft title to use Vivox.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout is, at its core, a teamwork-centric game where communication between squadmates is extremely important. We wanted to make sure that our players could have the best and most immersive gaming experience, and when it came to deciding what voice chat technology to implement, Vivox was the obvious choice,” said Dragos Gafita, Game Manager at Gameloft. “Modern Combat 5: Blackout is built with our own proprietary engine, which can cause complications when implementing third party solutions, but with Vivox’s CORE SDK, integration was incredibly easy.”

Modern Combat 5: Blackout is a fast-paced military FPS with a thrilling solo campaign and ten multiplayer game modes, including Battle Royale. With ten soldier classes and more than a hundred unique weapons, players can customize their characters to suit their favorite style and look, as they battle across eleven multiplayer maps and engage in robust esports-style action. It is that competitive, multiplayer aspect that Gameloft is aiming to reinforce by allowing their players to communicate and strategize in real-time, without having to rely on third-party apps, thanks to the power of Vivox.

“The partnership with Gameloft is a special one for us here at Vivox. As one of the market leaders in mobile gaming, Gameloft can utilize the entire portfolio of Vivox features and technology to give their gamers an immersive and engaging multiplayer experience,” said Dave Verratti, Head of Business Development at Vivox. “Competitive games on mobile require the highest quality communication, and Vivox is the best solution on the market. We are excited to help Gameloft give this tool to their users, allowing them to concentrate on bringing top tier gameplay to MC5 and other future titles.”

Vivox technology is available for developers of any size through their Developer Portal and can be implemented on all engines and platforms.
